Fishhook Lake and River Association Membership Drive
We are looking to increase our membership from around 100 out of 400 eligible properties to 150 or higher. Members in good standing (have paid 2026 membership dues) who recruit 3 new or returning members will receive a Fishhook Lake and River T-shirt from Lucky No. 7 Shoppe downtown Park Rapids. Members in good standing who recruit 5 new or returning members will receive a $25 gift card to the Y Steak House located on the Fishhook River.

Members should email (Fishhooklakeandriver@gmail.com) the names (3-5 names) of everyone they have recruited. To qualify for either a T-shirt or gift card, those listed need to have paid their membership dues before the end of the membership drive. The membership drive will start officially on July 1, 2026. All memberships, to be considered as part of the membership drive, must be paid by the end of business on July 31, 2026.

*Bylaws: ARTICLE 2. Membership. Any owner or occupier of lands within 1000 feet of Fish Hook Lake or Fish Hook River in Hubbard County, Minnesota, is eligible for membership. Any interested person may become an associate member by paying the annual dues. However, they shall not have voting privileges.

WHAT ARE WE CURRENTLY WORKING ON:
-Building membership!  We need your membership and support to ensure a stronger
voice on the issues that matter to our community, to recruit more members and
volunteers to help do the work that needs to be done, and to maintain the financial
strength we need to move forward on important projects.
-Building strong and lasting partnerships with the Township, DNR, COLA and Hubbard
County so that we are all working towards the same goal – keeping our community and
lake and river healthy and strong!
-Partnering with the DNR and Hubbard County to keep our lakes stocked with fish and
control and eliminate devastating Aquatic Invasive Species.
- Plan and coordinate social events to network and build community engagement.
Examples:
o 4th of July Boat Parade
o Monthly Women’s Coffee Get Togethers @ Bella Café
o Share COLA (Hubbard County Coalition of Lake Associations) best practices
o Annual Summer Meeting and Picnic with main course entrees provided - July
o Fall Social Dinner - September
CURRENT PROJECTS:
2025 Lake and River AIS Management Plan Rewrite

FHLARA has a lake management plan from 2005 that was a great starting point to a
fully revised management plan. Two major parts of this plan are already in action. The
final report from our lake vegetation survey is pending and the ‘Eyes on the Water’
element of the plan already has more than a dozen volunteers checking for additional
Zebra Mussels.
By joining FHLARA we can do more projects like loon nesting platforms or information
kiosks at our boat launches to ensure members and visitors alike have current
information.
PLEASE HELP MAKE THE FISHHOOK RIVER & LAKE ASSOCIATION STRONGER!
You can download the membership PDF form or use the the QR code
for paying via PayPal.
As part of the Membership Drive please submit (via email link below) the current
member’s name who encouraged you to join. We would be glad to hand out
dozens of prizes! Or, if you are a current member, and know the 3 or 5 (or more!)
people who agreed to join – you can send in your names.
Email to: Fishhooklakeandriver@gmail.com
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Zebra Mussels have been found in Fish Hook.

Read more about it on our Zebra Mussels page.

A new boater education law goes into effect on July 1, 2025.
This law initially affects boat operators born after June 20, 2004 but
the permit requirement will gradually apply to older age groups over the next few years.

Electronic membership and AIS donations are now available on our Membership page.
Ice In and Ice Out Dates are listed on our Calendar page.

Our Mission

The Fish Hook Lake & River Association shall be an advocate of the environment of our lake/river systems.  We shall be a partner with other lake associations and agencies which have an impact on water quality. We shall act as an educator in community understanding of the issues and goals of our association. The objectives of our efforts are better water quality and property values for everyone. As a group, we have a stronger voice than as separate individuals.

Fish Hook Lake is located in Hubbard County, Minnesota
